GOURMET TUSCANY AND UMBRIA

This tour will take you to a less visited, but very well-known circuit: you will have the opportunity to visit the south of Tuscany and the north-west of Umbria, to visit the places where the most famous wines of Tuscany are produced and to enjoy the unforgettable colours and flavours of these lands.

Be inspired by the beauty of Siena, by the pretty, medieval villages, by the intensity of Perugia and by the endless Chianti vineyards… so, have you packed your suitcase yet?

DAY 1: SAN GIMIGNANO, SIENA, CHIANCIANO TERME

Arrival in San Gimignano and guided tour of this small medieval town which can be seen from afar thanks to its many towers. Lunch at the restaurant and continuation to Siena. Guided tour of Siena, with its famous Piazza del Campo, one of the largest medieval squares in Europe, and the Cathedral, with its magnificent mosaics. Continuation to Chianciano Terme, accommodation at the hotel, dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 2: MONTEPULCIANO, MONTALCINO AND PIENZA

After breakfast at the hotel, departure for Montepulciano and free visit of the medieval town. Typical lunch in an agriturismo or in a farmhouse, where you can also taste the famous noble wine of Montepulciano. Continuation to the Montalcino area, well known for its history and gastronomy, as well as for its excellent Brunello di Montalcino wine. Wine tasting in a winery and continuation to Pienza. Guided tour of the city. Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 3: THE CHIANTI ROUTE

After breakfast at the hotel, departure with local guide to discover the famous “Chianti Gallo Nero (Black Rooster) Route”. Visit to the Castle and the cellars of Brolio. Wine tasting. Lunch in a typical restaurant. In the afternoon visit to Radda in the Chianti region and the delightful town of Greve. Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 4: ORVIETO AND TODI

Departure for Orvieto: guided tour of the city, rich in history with the beautiful Cathedral and the underground part which has been entirely derived from the cavities dug by the inhabitants over the centuries, full of pits and caves; the most famous is undoubtedly St. Patrick’s, near the community gardens which are located inside the Albornoz Fortress. Entrance and tasting of the famous wines in the ancient caves of ‘Pozzo della Cava’. Lunch at the restaurant and continuation to Todi, a medieval town of unique beauty and elegance that stands on top of a hill overlooking the beautiful Tiber valley. Guided tour of the city, starting from Piazza del Popolo, the Cathedral and the Church of St. Fortunato, which houses the tomb of the humanist poet Jacopone da Todi in the crypt. Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 5: PERUGIA

Breakfast and visit to Perugia, a historical town renowned for its chocolate; with local guide, visit of the squares and cobbled streets, passing through the stairways that cross the rock face. After lunch, free time to explore the city and do some shopping.
