THE CASTLES OF BAVARIA AND THE ROMANTIC ROAD

DAY 1: NEUSCHWANSTEIN / AUGSBURG
Early afternoon arrival and visit with audio-guides of the fairy-tale Neuschwanstein Castle, an imposing neo-Gothic building dating back to 1869. The richly furnished rooms inside are a tribute to the musical genius of Richard Wagner: “Tannhäuser”, “Lohengrin”, “Tristan and Isolde”, “The Master Singers of Nuremberg” and “Parsifal”, a hymn to romanticism and ancient Germanic legends. At the end of the visit continue to Augsburg. Accommodation in the reserved rooms, dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 2: AUGSBURG / ROMANTIC ROAD / NUREMBERG
After breakfast, meeting with the guide and departure for the Romantic Road, the most famous of all German tourist itineraries, which follows the route of the Via Claudia, an important military trade route of the Roman Empire. Picturesque and historical towns, medieval villages with imposing city walls, picturesque alleys, half-timbered houses and Gothic churches follow one another pleasantly; 350 km of pure romanticism crossing a multiform landscape, starting in the Franconian wine territory, crossed by the Main River, and ending near the splendid Alpine peaks. Lunch in a typical Gasthof in Nördlingen.
Accommodation in hotel in Nuremberg, dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 3: NUREMBERG / BAMBERG

After breakfast, you will meet your guide for a visit to Bamberg, a precious city of art in Upper Franconia, situated in the fertile Regnitz Valley. You will stroll through the historic centre and visit the main sights: the Domplatz with its beautiful cathedral, the Hofhaltung, the former imperial residence and the ‘Klein Venedig’ (little Venice), a complex of fishermen’s houses clustered on small islands. Return to Nuremberg for lunch in a typical restaurant where a tasty menu awaits you. In the afternoon, continue the visit of Nuremberg. The city walls, a mighty defensive system, unique in Germany, built in the 14th century, the Hauptmarkt with its famous moving-figure carillon and the Frauenkirche, the church of St. Lawrence, a masterpiece of the late Gothic period.
Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
